Obituary for Keith Nash

To Staci and the Nash Family:

On behalf of the Boys & Girls Club of Muncie’s board of directors, staff, members and families, I send our heartfelt condolences to your family.

Keith Nash was not only special to your family, but to our entire community as well. He was an upstanding community leader, small business owner and integral volunteer. His impact on each of us will live on for many years.

However, we are most thankful for his role as a dedicated father to not only his own sons, but for many young people in our community. Your family, led by your father’s genuine concern for others, has truly saved and impacted countless lives. Too often in the news we see statistics highlighting the issue of absent fathers and single-parent homes, but your family has served as an inspiration for our community for many years.

As we think about Keith, we are reminded of a poem by an unknown author, “The Measure Of A Man.”

Not – How did he die? But – How did he live?
Not – What did he gain? But – What did he give?

These are the things that measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.

Not – What was his station? But – had he a heart?
And – How did he play his God-given part?

Was he ever ready with a word of good cheer?
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?

Not – What was his church? Not – What was his creed?
But – Had he befriended those really in need?

Not – What did the sketch in the newspaper say?
But – How many were sorry when he passed away?

These are the things that measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.

These words accentuate the many amazing things that we remember and will treasure about Keith Nash.

Thank you for sharing him with the Boys & Girls Club and our entire community. While this is not an easy process, please know our thoughts and prayers are with your entire family. Please don’t hesitate to let us know how we can assist you during this time.

Sincerely,

Micah A Maxwell,

Executive Director
