To Lois and the Straight Family:

On behalf of the Boys & Girls Club of Muncie’s board of directors, staff, members and families, I send our heartfelt condolences to your family.

John Straight served the Boys & Girls Club of Muncie (Formerly, just the Boys Club) for 30 years. His dedication and passion for service was known far and wide around the state of Indiana and beyond. During a time in our community when kids didn’t have video games and television, the Boys Club played a vital role in providing recreation, leadership, and educational programs.

The following poem helps paint a vivid picture of John’s dedication to his community and the Boys & Girls Club mission.

I don’t have a bucket list because it is my dedication to live every day of my life there. I don’t have a bucket list because I’m doing it that day. I don’t want to go to bed and say, ‘Oh, I wish I had done this.’ – Melissa Etheridge

Today’s generation is blessed as a result John’s commitment and long-term service to our families and kids. John’s legacy was never focused on accolades or affluence. His reward and pride was ensuring success for the Boys & Girls Club. He happily retried from service, gratified in knowing the Boys & Girls Club would be around for years to come and serve many more kids.

We work hard, each day, to honor John’s hard work and ensure the kids he served has a place to send their families for generations to come. We share our thoughts and prayers with your family and friends.

Sincerely,

Micah A Maxwell,

Executive Director
