Summer Golf Program Off to Successful Start

Fore! Divot. Bunker. Tee.

These terms may have been strange to Club kids a few weeks ago. As a part of the Junior Golf Academy, members of the Boys & Girls Club sat down to take a Golf Rules Test to measure their golf knowledge. Since then they have gradually learned many new terms, rules and how to play the game of golf.

Through a grant from the Ball Brothers Foundation, in partnership with the USGA and PGA and MD’s Golf Academy, the Junior Golf Academy is off to another successful start. The Boys & Girls Club has hosted the program for more than 10 years for local inner-city youth to learn the game of golf.

Each Monday and Friday they rotate through sessions such as chipping, putting, full swing and other classes. At the end of the 6-week session they will not only understand the game but have opportunities to play on an actual golf course.
