By: Jason Newman, CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie— Three years ago, I moved from Philadelphia, PA to Muncie, IN. I was excited about the opportunity to take on this incredibly big, incredibly important job. The move, while exciting, was also kind of scary. Could I lead a team to help highlight the amazing work that our kids do every day? Was I up to the job? I found out, pretty quickly, that I alone was not, but by working with some amazing leaders in the Muncie, and Delaware County Community, we could do some amazing things. Along with the many difficulties [...]
Safety is the number one priority of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie and we are doing our best to keep children, staff and volunteers protected from COVID-19. Today, we have several staff members out being tested for COVID-19, no one has tested positive, but we are waiting on test results. We will be closing the after-school program at the Madison St. Unit and the Buley Center Unit from 11/20 – 11/24 and will reopen on Monday, 11/30/2020. The Virtual Learning Program will be closed from 11/23-11/24 and will reopen on Monday, 11/30/2020. While we are closed, we will continue [...]

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie wrapped up another successful Just Desserts Fundraiser despite the change in format. This year’s event raised $11,394.36 during the event on Friday, November 6. This total does not include the $3,735.56 raised at events leading up to the main event. The money raised from this event will go directly toward providing quality programs for the local Clubs. This year’s Just Desserts took on a new format to maintain staff, volunteer, and participant safety. Instead of one large event, the Clubs held multiple small events throughout the month of October leading up to the dessert [...]
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie is honored to receive three grants totaling $85,500 to assist with programs, staffing, and general operating costs. All grants are managed through The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County. The Clubs were awarded $60,000 directly from the Community Foundation to assist with out-of-school time programs. These funds help support programs during school breaks, after-school activities, and summer programming. An additional $3,000 was awarded earlier in the year to cover cleaning supplies related to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, the Clubs provided limited services to families of essential workers. The Harry and Janet [...]
Friends, family, and staff of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie lined up on October 2 at the Madison Street Unit to kick off the nonprofit’s Annual Just Desserts fundraising campaign by smashing whipped cream pies in the faces of 4 Club volunteers and CEO, Jason Newman. The campaign invited community members to donate any dollar amount from $5 - $75, equating to one pie in the face. Fifty pies were made totaling $3,735.56 raised for the Clubs. CEO, Jason Newman, received the most pies in the face—most on behalf of the youth—with a whopping 31 pies. Wayne Johnson, Vice [...]
